Guess what, the Adobe processed DNG's had the lowest IQ which was not surprising since they have a history of not being top flight vs any manufacturer's raw software I have ever used. Imported everything into Lightroom so I could see all the variations in the jpegs, side by side. I ran the raws through Adobe's DNG converter, I ran the raws through Sony's software 2X, once converting via sRGB and the second via Adobe RGB.

I then downloaded a like number of its posted jpegs so I would have examples to compare side to side. I downloaded slightly over 100, 103 was the exact count from recollection, raws from this site's samples gallery for the camera.

Nigel, just because you think it's crazy doesn't make it so. Apparently Affinity Photo already supports the RX100VI & support in Capture One is coming next month. The other alternative is to dump LR & use other software. If the OP wants to use LR to fully process RX100VI RAW files the only option is to subscribe to the Adobe Creative Cloud version of LR. You might as well just shoot JPG only in the first place.

Unfortunately, even with DNC converting the files to *.dng format, LR may still not have full functionality with your images files (I think the Camera Calibration options will be limited).Ĭonvert them to jpegs in Sony's software and then import to LR
#Adobe dng converter 7.4 update
You therefore have the same options I outlined earlier in the thread - once a Camera RAW Profile for the RX100VI has been added - have a look at importing your *.ARW files to LR via Adobe Digital Negative Converter (a bit clunky, but do-able), or update to one of the current Cloud based, pay-as-you-go, versions of LR (or try a different image processing program). However if, like me, you have v6.14 (perpetual), then you wont be getting this as Adobe no longer support the perpetual version of LR. Once a profile is available it would usually be added to LR via an update. In that case I would think it’s down to LR not having the correct Camera RAW Profile for the RX100VI and it would appear the RX100VI is not yet supported - List of Cameras supported by Camera RAW - Click Here You asked for solutions and, although this one isn't that great, it's something to consider. things like Camera Calibration options will not be fully implemented. It works in terms of getting the images into Lightroom, but unless you are at version 6.14 (perpetual, or one of their current Cloud versions) you won't get full support for files produced by your RX10IV - e.g. It's a bit of a pain to be quite honest - and adds another step to your workflow. I've used this with some of my other cameras before support was added for them. If you don’t want to update your version of Lightroom for any reason, you could resort to the (much clunkier) option of converting your ARW files to *.dng files using Adobe’s Digital Negative Converter and then importing those files into Lightroom (it's a free download). I have v6.14 of ‘perpetual’ - though sadly ‘abandoned by Adobe’ - LIghtroom and this works fine (for now). ARW files.Īs Digital Nigel posted, the ARW files produced by your RX10IV are (Sony’s) RAW files and as Digital Shutterbug posted, the latest version of Lightroom will open ARW files - either in their native format, or by converting them to Adobe’s own *.dng format.
#Adobe dng converter 7.4 how to
Can the RX10 IV not save photos as RAW (NEF?) This is a very annoying problem and trying to find an easy way to not have to convert each time.Įven then, I can't figure out how to open or convert.
